“The earth is still turning…

The seasons enter,
play their part, bow and move on
every year, one to the next,
never overstaying their welcome
but always always returning.

There is great comfort in that.”

I know I’ve made my enjoyment of autumn known in previous posts, but my favorite part is early autumn.

Especially that period as autumn approaches and nature begins to transition into a beautiful array of colors.  A unique blend of green, yellow, and reddish leaves characterizes the early autumn days.  The colors at this point are bright and fresh, creating breathtaking scenery before aging and containing greater shades of brown.  The brilliant mixture of these brilliant colors can only be experienced during the early autumn days.  It’s a reminder of the beauty of nature as it transforms with the changing season.

Concerning the above quote, the shift from one season to the next is a little blurry these days, thanks in no small part to climate change.  But thus far, at one point or the other, we still get a period of all four.

Tis a beautiful image, my friend. Too often we walk trails and spending time looking down, missing the beauty of leaves dancing against blue/gray skies. Autumn is also my favorite season. I was quite disappointed earlier in the fall because the colors were so drab, but that has all changed over the past few days and colors are now making their beauty know. I read this morning that there is a potential for cold and snow arriving over the weekend out here. I also saw that it is cold out your way. Stay warm and enjoy this lovely time of the year.

I could have worn shorts working in the yard this morning and we expect a high of 77 later this week. Ugh, I’m not in a hurry for sub-30 degree mornings but we shouldn’t be in the 70s.

It is certainly my favorite season by far, even though the spectacle of color change is relatively short-lived. But even as the leaves fall, then the ground turns interesting! My wife and I have often discussed how it is the one thing we’d miss if we moved elsewhere as we get older. Beautiful image – it reminds me of those favorite times of day in autumn when the sun is low and coming through the trees making everything glow.
