“A photographer is like a cod, which produces a million eggs in order that one may reach maturity.”

As I browse my photo archives, contemplating which ones are worth revisiting, I feel like the Cod in the above quote.  Not a million photos, but even when I select a ‘second-chance photo’ and process it to a point where I’d consider posting it, I never feel it’s really finished.

  1. Ha! I don’t think I’ve seen that quote before, but it holds a lot of truth in it for sure. Is there such a thing as a bad photo of Tuscany? :-) Even in cloudy conditions it looks good!

    • Although Tuscany is theoretically an excellent place for making photos, I’ve managed to collect a number of subpar images in my personal collection that I wouldn’t want to share. I guess I’m an ‘over-achiever’ in that regard! LOL

I ran across this quote, which was also new to me, but it does ring true.

  2. Love the quote and the image! I’ve never heard it before, either. When I look at my archives I see way too many images that just don’t need to be taking up the disc space. And, stands to reason that if you weren’t satisfied with your images from that last trip then another may be in order. Something tells me Bonnie would be in on that idea, also. Just saying!!

    • The digital camera age has undoubtedly increased the number of images photographers might take. It’s not like with film when every exposure has a direct cost. With digital, there’s only a cost on the backend with time sorting and storage, but that seems small. The world has changed significantly in the twelve years since our last visit, but I’d like to think that Tuscany remains much the same. Take care, my friend!

  3. I will be in that area come late August and hope to come away with anything as nice. Love that quote as it’s so fitting.

    • Joe, I’m sure that you will make some stunning photographs. I am excited to see your results and wish you a fantastic and safe journey. Hopefully, the weather will be excellent in late August, as we encountered unpleasant heat when we visited in mid-July 2012.
