Reflections, with Imperfections — The Tallan Finacial Center building, Chattanooga, Tennessee

The Tallan Financial Center building in downtown Chattanooga, TN, kept catching my attention which prompted me to pause several times, over a couple of days’ time span, to capture its different perspectives in photos.

Each photo was made from near the same location but each has its own identity and was treated individually in post-processing.

  1. I like buildings like this. So many interesting distortions in the reflections. A bit of an “out in the world” fun house mirror. And I like that you included some normal visual anchors for perspective.

I wonder if adjacent properties get some heavy duty sun glare from the reflections at times?

    • Yes, the reflections and distortions were interesting as the lighting and cloud conditions changed. Some of the glass panels seem to be distorting more than others, especially on one floor. I would think there would be at times some glare to those in buildings nearby. Thanks, Mark.

  2. Oh, wow, my friend! This is a wonderful series of images. Love them all. The artist within was present and actively creative.

    • Thanks, Monte. You are very kind with your words. While making each photo, I didn’t initially envision a series, but later I concluded they were stronger together than separate.

  3. I really enjoy architecture and this is great. I love the perspective of the first one because it’s initially not clear if we are looking at a reflection or out a window until the tree gives a sense of location.

    • Thanks, Howard. Architectural photography probably falls just behind landscape photography on my photography preference scale. But because I don’t make the opportunity to do it very often, it’s always somewhat special to me when I do.
