Friday morning, after Tropical Storm Zeta moved through the area this past Thursday, Bonnie and I went for a hike at a local nature preserve.  Zeta delivered high winds and took down trees and power lines in many neighborhoods, leaving many people without power in the area.  It seemed the winds also stripped most of the colorful changing leaves from trees as well.  Luckily, many leaves haven’t begun to change yet and managed to weather the storm.  Perhaps some late colors?

We did find a few “pockets” of yellowish-brown leaves.  Most were either near the ground where they were sheltered or…

I know it’s pitiful autumn colors for the most part,  but we did have a great hike.   I find myself needing more nature time as the pandemic continues and November 3rd election approaches.

But good news, Maggie has settled into our new home and has a steady routine, so we feel safe in leaving her for hours at a time now.

  1. You didn’t take Maggie? How dare you two! Surprised the couch wasn’t torn to shreds. 😁Glad she is okay with life now. Also glad you two were able to be out and about for relief from the stress of our 2020 year. With the snow calming down the smoke from the fires I’ve been able to be out in nature a bit more, even in the cold. I go there for the same reasons.

    • Maggie would appreciate you arguing her case for her, Monte, and she would love to go on every walk, but the sad fact is Maggie is twelve and a half years old and having some hip problems. She just isn’t getting around like she used to, and sometimes she overdoes it and then limps around for a few days. But don’t feel too bad for her. Every day she gets taken for a couple of long walks over much easier to manage ground.

Glad to hear that you’ve been able to be out more recently. It’s been so nice for us to be able to even be out for a couple of hours. Take care, and thanks, Monte! :-)
