Lone Tree In Spain

Lone trees in the fields of Spain, particularly on the central Meseta plateau, are iconic landmarks that provide critical shade and refuge for pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago and for local wildlife in otherwise barren landscapes. I’m not certain if the tree in the center of the cultivated field was meant to provide shade for pilgrims walking the Camino de Santiago. However, I do remember seeing solitary trees several times in a particular area of Spain and wondering about their significance. This image has been on my mind since early this year; either I’ve found an acceptable version of it, or it’s finally worn me down.
