Each New Day
“Every new day is a different universe to explore!”
― Bob Bello

Sometimes, I take the time to revisit my archives and browse my images, spending a few minutes on those I may have thought I’d forgotten the details of or the emotions I felt when I captured the scene. More often than not, I experience a flash of memories, reliving those moments. This is why I hold on to most of my photos, even the ones I never plan to publish or print. Despite their imperfections, they are connected to meaningful experiences and memories, and I don’t wish to forget them.

I so relate to keeping images that will not be posted here but have memories attached to them. I also go back through the archives and meander through them. I have found images that are good enough to share on the blog and missed them on the first pass through. This is an absolutely inviting image. It’s inviting me to think about another road trip.
Interesting images were not deemed “good enough” on the first pass, only to be revisited later and seen anew. My experience has been the same, and I’m pretty sure the images didn’t change, so it must have been me who changed my view of them.
It’s almost ninety here today, and it will be a bit hotter tomorrow. I wouldn’t mind wading into the shallows of the water in this photo. I bet this time of year, there in upper Utah, it would be some cold.
I probably spend too much time in my archives but I do like finding a nice memory that was partially forgotten.
Perhaps just as Adobe Lightroom can save sidecar files with metadata for our photos in its libraries, our minds create similar sidecar memories attached to visual cues and images. At least that’s a metaphor for this ability that makes sense to me. Some memories seem more significant when we recall them later. Thanks, Joe!
