“We are more often frightened than hurt; and we suffer more from imagination than from reality.”
Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Of course, in this day and age and in the next four years, it’s easy to imagine many possible terrible things. Perhaps because of my age, I find that I’m not as concerned for myself as I am for others who fall outside the white male identifier. I’m concerned for rights lost and unfair burdens to bear, as well as for children and grandchildren having a nation and world with fewer opportunities to shine and be themselves.
I hope this frightening uncertainty is a case of imagination exceeding reality.
I’ve been having to take quite a few breaks from the news lately, and I was already limiting it significantly from what I used to read. And sadly, the internet has simply become a less enjoyable place to spend time on.
I understand the need for Internet “news” breaks these days—I also need to take them. But confounding the need for breaks is a wish to remain informed on major changing events. You’re right; it’s not much fun anymore. Thanks for the visit and comment!
I wish we had news rather than opinions, assumptions, and “imagination” that exceeds reality. I too have concerns for future generations in all areas of their lives. Love the photo!!!!
Thanks, Monte. Broadcast news has become another cash-driven commodity catering to short-lived “hot-today” topics. Today’s headlines will be forgotten tomorrow, even with many long-term continuing events. We’ve become a nation with five-minute attention spans. Chaos!
