I made this photo several weeks ago.  After several recent hard freezes, it looks nothing like this now.

Note: Although I know it makes no difference to anyone, except perhaps to me, I’ve disabled/deleted my Twitter account.

  1. The color contrast is striking, Earl! How will they look clothed in snow? :-)

I have not deleted my Twitter accnt but I have gone inactive and joined the ever growing crowd at Mastodon (https://mastodon.world/@jwsmithphoto)

    • Thanks, Joe. I’m sure they would have been striking with a light coating of early snow; shame they are brown and wilted now. :-)

I looked at Mastodon but haven’t ventured there yet. Perhaps I should give it a second look.

  2. I like this image a lot. As it looks nothing like this now it would be interesting to see it this time of the season, even with snow on it.

I left Twitter quite some time ago. I enjoyed it but it grew into something I was not comfortable with.

    • Thanks for your appreciation of the image, Monte. The soft foggy focus was due to the early morning sun and its being made through a slightly hazy window; it was not an added effect of post-processing. 😉

Yeah, my discomfort with Twitter reached the breaking point with Elon and his unsupportable decisions. He’s definitely the poster child for the immoral 1%.

  3. I’m undecided on what to do with my Twitter. I don’t know whether to leave it inactive or delete it. I have been exploring mastodon like many others. It’s a bit refreshing to not have any ads or algorithms- but I wonder how sustainable it will be. The Fediverse is a lot bigger than expected, takes some time to find your way around l.

    Nice photo Earl.

    • While I think there is a need for something like Twitter, it needs to have certain boundaries that are, at the very least, based upon some moral principles. I don’t know if mastodon fills that need, but I finally decided that I can’t support the twitter Elon seems to want. Thanks for the comment contribution! 😉

  4. This is a calming and soothing photo, Earl. The window gives it a soft focus filter effect. It seems like the flowers are confused this year – we have a couple of rose bushes that keep blooming despite the temperatures.

I have a twitter account but in the past have used it strictly to get current conditions on places we travel to, following an account only as long as I need to get the information. No telling where it will end up with Elon running the circus. I’ve come to the conclusion that social media is essentially useless these days for anything constructive. I like the small community of bloggers a lot more!

    • Freedom of speech shouldn’t mean there aren’t any responsibilities or consequences for what’s said or published, but maybe Elon would disagree. I doubt I’ll miss Twitter for very long.
