  1. I’ve always found the way butterflies probe flowers with that proboscis to be entertaining and fascinating, and this image shows exactly why. It also makes me wonder if they also ever stick it somewhere that may be occupied by another critter and it gets bit! :) Great closeup Earl.

    • Thanks, Mark! It’s usually interesting becoming aware of the small “miracles” we’re surrounded by, isn’t it? Of course, that requires pulling one’s face away from the screen of their smartphone, which eliminates a vast majority of the population these days. 😉

  3. Oh my gosh, Earl! This is one the best images I’ve seen in some time. They are beautiful creatures. This image does show us more about their lives, how they feed and join in pollination, that many of us never witness. Hoping you show us more!

    • Thanks, Monte! Butterflies don’t stay in one spot for long and are erratic in their flights. I count myself lucky to get this photo in focus. 😉
