On the eastern end of the barrier island of St. George, fronting historic Apalachicola Bay, Florida, is the Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island, State Park

There are miles of undeveloped beaches on this barrier island, offering ample opportunities for outdoor activities. On the gulf side of the island, one can enjoy perfect blue waters and miles of sugary white sands and perhaps catch sight of a pod of dolphins. While on the bayside, healthy marshes are home to wading birds and abundant saltwater fish. Nature trails thread through vast scrubs and pine forests, where red-cockaded woodpeckers and bald eagles linger in the canopy.

It’s a beautiful and peaceful place and one that we were not able to visit when we were RV’ing because at that time, they didn’t allow dogs, and as we had Maggie with us, we turned around but made a note to return at some future date. And so we did!

  1. What a beautiful place! For sure on the blue sky and in a wonderful contrast with the white sand. I noticed the website mentions stargazing, something I would be an interested in. I will need to remember this in case I every get out your way.

  2. Looks like quite the beautiful place. I really like complimentary colors in the first image, and those wild looking trees.
