Yesterday may have been the peak for Autumn leaf color in this particular location in the piedmont of North Carolina.  For the next three days, rain is forecasted with the associated leaf shedding.

I have to say it’s a little surreal walking around photographing brightly colored leaves in November while wearing shorts and a short-sleeved T-shirt.   We’ve had high daily temperatures of near 80ºF, although, in the 10-day forecast, it looks like cooler temperatures are coming our way.

The local turtles seem to be trying to absorb as much solar energy as possible.

Some of the colors are remarkably bright.  This year, 2020, has been such a taxing year, I find walking among nature, and these bright colors provide a mental escape for a few moments.

However, with the end of Autumn, I guess I’ll have to find something else to photograph. :-)

  1. We’ve also been having unseasonably warm weather up here. It’s been nice to spend time in the yard this way. Plus it’s always easier to mulch leaves when there is no snow. :-)

    • In the Piedmont section of North Carolina, below the higher elevation of the western mountains, we don’t worry much about snow here anymore. When growing up, I can remember there were usually two or three decent snows each winter, and they would often last long enough for multiple days of sledding. Now we’re lucky to get a dusting or small snow, and it melted by a day or so later. But worst still, ice storms events are certainly in our range of possibilities during winter. Now watch, since I’ve said this, we’ll get a huge snowstorm this year! Haha :-)

  2. LOL Love the turtle image. Looks like one is straddling the log, feet hanging over the edge. 😂
Love leaves images, also, no matter the season. I see them much like snowflakes as each is so unique. Looking forward to what you will be photographing next.

    • Thanks, Monte. That Red Cedar log is anchored in place, and there might be some underwater shelf along each side to help the turtles climb up. They certainly enjoy it as there are turtles there every day we’ve visited. Ha, there will probably be a few more leaves before I move on. ;-) Thanks and have a great upcoming weekend, my friend. I hope your daughter is still doing well.
