Park Bench in Autumn, Pharr Mill Road Park, Harrisburg, NC – Oct 2020
Come walk with me. These photo snapshots are from a leisurely walk in a nearby park yesterday morning. Here, while some trees are well into the fall leaf process others have not begun turning. In any case, I wanted to share the walk as best as I could.
Most of these photos were made at the Pharr Mill Road Park which is located along the Rocky River near Harrisburg, NC. As you can see in the photos there’s a series of raised boardwalks across wetlands and forest flood plains.
Perhaps if we tired of the walk we can set upon a bench to rest, listen, and recharge.

Wow, that is a nice scene out your back door! The boardwalk reminds of the ones at Inniswood Gardens in Westerville, Ohio. Loved taking my camera for a walk there. Kinda wish I could take a walk, take in the colors and smell the woods.
A walk in the woods has always seemed to recharge and reset me, and it’s often needed these days. Those boardwalks are really nice. Yes, I’m pretty happy with where we are now and Maggie loves going out in the back yard. Thanks, Monte.
Ha – we must have been writing posts at similar times with similar titles! I think you beat me by a few minutes or so. Looks like they put some money into those elevated boardwalks – nice! Pretty nice view you have out back also.
We’ll contribute similar titles to great minds and all. :-) Pharr Mill was originally a gristmill in this area in the late 1800s, but I believe that the original building was washed away in a 1910 flood. Today there’s a Pharr Mill Brewery in Harrisburg, NC, which does designer beers. Pharr Mill donated the boardwalk, but I’m not sure exactly where the funds came from. Thanks, Mark. Maggie and I don’t mind going into the backyard. ;-)
