Airstreams are a work of art as well as a very functional design. I probably will never own one but I always noticed them and paid attention to them as we traveled in our RV.  With a large dog, we went a good bit larger….which gave more “normal” living space but made require more planning and caution when traveling.

  1. That would be my size and style. :-)

    • Knowing what I know now, I believe we would have done it a bit different and smaller but with a large dog, it made sense at the time. It would be nice to have a small one for parttime travel now but I doubt that will ever happen. :-)

  2. I have been a tent camper all my life, although I haven’t been camping in quite some time now. I’ve always thought it would be nice to have a small camper, but never liked all the extras I would need to have with it – a vehicle capable of towing it, some place to store it, likely some type of winterization, etc, etc. So all of those extras have kept me from pursuing it where I would only use it a few times a year. However, there are rental places around here that I have been meaning to check out one day. Airstreams seem to have a real fan base behind them.

    • All that you mentioned are part of the downside of having an RV or small travel trailer, Mark. The initial investment and upkeep can be rather high unless you already have a truck or large SUV. Depreciation is also high so you’ll only ever get a small percentage of your money back if you decide to sell. Airstreams are a bit special and do tend to hold their value better than some others. I don’t see Bonnie and I ever back in the place where we want to make that level of commitment again. But, it was a great and fun experience and I hope there are lots more travels in our future. :-)
