“The wussiest thing a guy can do is drive a clean truck. Dents, scratches and mud – that’s manly.” — Blake Shelton
At the moment our truck will certainly testify we’re not wussies — at least when it comes to dirt. :-)
It’s been a little over a week since my last post and since then we’ve travelled from Kinards, SC, to Sevierville, TN, camping for a couple of days, and then continued on to our current location of the Nashville North KOA, just north of Music City, Nashville, TN.
As a side note because I just happen to be thinking of it, it’s “funny” how my mind works when driving our truck and 5th wheel trailer. For me the experience is akin to a form of tunnel vision, being so focused on the position and status of our vehicle in relation to its surroundings that things outside of that immediate focus are mentally blurred out. Time passes quickly and only after parking does the realization of how long it’s been and how much energy I’ve expended come to collect its dues. Perhaps with more time my perceptions of the driving “the rig” will change. But then, perhaps it would be better if it didn’t change.
The Nashville North KOA is our first job with AGS updating and renewing the park’s guest service guide. We’re only a couple of days in but so far it’s going well and we’re enjoying it. Bonnie and I have divided the job requirements between us. She does the advertiser contacts, new leads and renewals and I take care of computer layout, design and documentation.
We’ll be here for two weeks completing the park’s 2016 guide. This location is a little hard on Maggie because there’s no place in the park where she can be free and run. The park is also crowded and there are many dogs which is an additional stress factor for her. But, even if we drive to a local park and find some free running space it’s so hot and humid Maggie’s time outside would be very limited.
Next work destination…Tulsa, OK.
So, I’m assuming Bonnie is the CEO in this business plan. :-) It does look like a nice park.
Yelp, Monte, she’s CEO, CFO and COO. But I also have a couple of titles…Site Manager and BWCE (Black Water Chief Engineer.) :-)
Just out of curiosity, I looked at the Nashville weather forecast for the next week. Sheesh – mid-90’s with the dewpoint in the mid-70’s. I sure hope the AC in your camper works!
Paul, yeah, it’s hot here and the humidity level makes the air feel heavy. We have two AC’s on our roof which during the hottest hours of days such as these run almost constantly. They keep it cool and a dehumidifier keeps the air comfortable inside but I’m glad we’re not picking up the electric tab. ;-)
