On Friday (May 15th) we relocated from Carrabelle Beach to Holt, Florida. Holt is located just west of Crestview, off I-10, in the western Florida panhandle. We hit heavy rain during the drive and then later that evening, after setting up at Holt, experienced a heavy thunder storm. Maggie was a nervous wreck during the storm and huddled on our bed, her safe place, for a long time after we arrived.
Several weeks ago I’d made a routine service appointment for our truck in Crestview. This was before we accepted the new jobs requiring us to return to the east coast for training. We decided there was still time to travel west to Crestview for the appointment and then do a series of eastward hops for training in Myrtle Beach, SC.
It’s so dang hot and humid here right now and as the photo shows there’s not much shade in the park itself. I guess all parks can’t be at the beach! :-)
Note: The “5th Airborne” king pin box I installed on the trailer while at Carrabelle worked well making a noticeable difference in smoothing out the towing experience.
I do believe this is your first whinning post since the start of this adventure. And, something I had not thouht about until now, but I assume your trailer gets hot at night. A quez6,what will you do with Maggie during the training? Beautiful skies in this image.
Whining post?! Oh no, I can do a lot better at whining then this…just ask Bonnie. :-)
These trailers get hot pretty fast but with full hook-ups we have two 15K air conditioners which do a good job keeping it cool. In most shorter stays the electricity is included in the daily fees so we don’t mind running the a/c when needed. The problem is when it’s hot and humid it makes it harder enjoying and exploring the local areas, both for us and Maggie.
The training will be conducted a short walk from our 5th Wheel so we’ll be able to get Maggie out for breaks and exercise every couple of hours. We’ll also have time in the mornings and evenings for longer walks. The same for the job…we’ll be able to get by to spend some time with her every few hours those days we’re working.
