A floating dock which raises and lowers about 3-4 feet each tide so as to maintain a constant level with the water.
I was attracted by the complexity of lines, angles, levels and platforms. In post processing I slightly simplified the details so as not to distract from the major elements.
I like this shot quite a lot. It’s very busy with a lot of lines and angles and textures but it has a simplified color pallet that sort of brings it together. Very nice.
Ken, thanks. It has a similar impact for me — lots going on but it seems to work.
There’s a lovely feeling of color in this as well. What are you shooting with these days?
Chris, thanks. This was taken with an Olympus E-M5 (OM D.) I also still have the Nikon D700.
I like the effect your processing had on the blues here Earl. May I ask what you used to soften the details?
Mark, thanks. I’ve found with careful adjustments the Topaz Simplify plug-in can give a nice “simplified” effect without looking overdone. I also adjusted the white balance a little cooler to pull out those blue tones.
My eyes went to the blue cast then moved on to the lines. It really is a different life when one lives near water or desserts or mountains. I say that because I am drawn to scenes like this but do not have the opportunity to shoot them very often.
