My understanding is this young man has been involved with Rowan Helping Ministries for a long time in one way or the other. He’s always there to help, always has a smile and always has a friendly greeting for you. He’s one of many you can count on here.
On this day I was wondering around the facilities, camera in hand, when I came upon this scene at the loading dock — he turned and smiled and I snapped a series of photos. Simple as that!
None of these calendar project photos were staged, that’s the beauty of it, there’s special moments happening all the time here. But the real lesson I’m taking away from this experience is there’s special moments happen all the time everywhere!
When I made this photo this young man was a volunteer but has since joined our staff — a win-win situation.
I’ve decided not to name the people featured in this series of photos. I can’t name everyone and I’m not sure it adds to the story in any case.
This shot today is a wonderful capture of an activity and a volunteer who has a winning smiles.
I like the idea of leaving the names off.
Don, thanks. I appreciate the feedback on the names.
Excellent portrait and smile of course :) we should smile like that more often :)
Mariana, thanks and you’re absolutely correct on there should be more smiling…a lesson I need to remember as well. :-)
I agree with Mariana, we need more smiles like this in world, starting with us. In fact when I first looked at the image, the only thing I saw was his smile. I immediately wanted to startup a conversation with him, take him for coffee, hear him laugh. Wonderful image, Earl!
What a smile! Great photo!
