A few days away

Weathered – this weathered hardwood stump looks to have survived many years as it’s softer wood decays first. Moss brings life, while hastening the decay process.

I may not post here for a few days. We’re making a short visit to the James River/Williamsburg, VA, area. Not the best time of the year for a visit to be sure, but the opportunity presented itself.

From a photographers perspective, prior to visiting any area I like to make myself familiar with its geographic layout using Google Maps and then visit Flickr and search for photos others have taken in the area. I usually find more photos then I can reasonable view but it does give me some great ideas on what to expect and perhaps some shots I’d like to bring back.
