The mystique and attraction of wine and wine tasting extends beyond the bouquet and taste of wine. The history of winemaking, the acquisition of skills for judging wines, and the casual intimate social experience all contribute to it’s overall appeal. When these factors come together wine tasting can be an enjoyable social experience even for those, who like me, are trivial wine drinkers.
We had scheduled a tour of the Castello di Brolio and then nearby dinner for our last evening in Tuscany. However due to a late start and a longer drive then anticipated we missed joining the tour group. “The impressive Castello di Brolio dominates the southern Chianti Classico countryside and has done so for over ten centuries.
If you’re a vegetarian you may want to skip this post. Established in 1700, the “Antica Macelleria Falorni” is one of Italy’s most famous butcher shops located in Greve in Chianti, Tuscany. During one of our drive-abouts we stopped there to walk among the shops.
People travel to Italy for no other reason then to visit the Tuscany (Tuscana) region, of which Florence is the capital. It’s a region known for its gorgeous landscapes, its rich artistic legacy and its influence on high culture. Movies have been made about it and you often hear how beautiful and relaxing the life-style it is.
My photographing windows and doors didn’t stop at Venice. I continued to be fascinated and to photograph them. What interested me most were those of an age perhaps equal to that of the building they were mounted upon.
