Olympus OM-D: Get a better grip with the HLD-6 Battery Grip

Sometimes a plus can also be a minus. Those with full sized hands and previous experience with full sized D-SLR’s, may find when operating the Olympus OM-D it feels a bit small…lacking grip.

Now I’ve used my OM-D extensively and have never dropped it but I’m always aware the “grip” is not as good as with my full size camera. I found a workable solution to this issue in the Olympus HLD-6 Battery Grip.

Venice to Florence, Italy, stops along the drive

The drive from Venice, Italy, to Florence, Italy was our first real introduction to the rural Italian.  When we had drove from Milan to Venice it was late evening via toll highways which offered few views of the areas were were passing through.  For our drive to Florence we selected secondary roads to enjoy some of the flavors of smaller Italian towns and countryside.

When first announced in February 2012, I’d placed an order for a Nikon D800 to replace my Nikon D700. After a couple of months of waiting I canceled that order because I was having second thoughts on how or if I really needed a camera with so many mega pixels. I’ve thought a number of times about ordering one again and had even thought I would upon our return from Italy.

First and foremost for all following posts on our trip to northern Italy — we had a grand time. Friends of ours who accompanied us had done the planning for this trip based upon a similar highly recommended trip friends of there’s had recently made. It was a good recommendation and my hats off to our friends for their great efforts.
