We’d planned to travel from West Memphis, AR, to Fayetteville, NC, to do another park guest guide renewal. However, the park in Fayetteville canceled on us, which we now consider a stroke of luck considering the heavy rains they’ve received on the east coast. Upon the cancellation we adjusted our schedule and are en route to Vero Beach, FL.
We took a few hours this weekend to visit a few of the nearby historical sites and a nature preserve. We enjoy getting to know an area, and what has perhaps made it what it is, by seeking to understanding its environment and history. One of our travel goals is to penetrate beyond the tourist experience in those areas we visit.
We’re in Marion, Arkansas, upgrading a resort guest services guide and have been enjoying autumn like weather the last couple of weeks — cool mornings and enjoyable daily highs.
A few additional details I collected from my visit to the Strategic Air and Aerospace Museum, Gretna, Nebraska.
Yesterday was our longest single day drive thus far (393 miles) from a little west of Omaha, Nebraska, down the western edge of Iowa, around Kansas City, then east into mid/eastern Missouri.
