Our drive on Thursday from Santa Fe, NM, to Gallup, NM, was uneventful — no warning lights and no countdown to disaster. With less-than-perfect weather forecasted for the coming weekend, we elected on Friday to drive the 70+ miles to visit the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona.

When laying out the agenda for this years travels I had to estimate how long to spend at each location and three days was definitely not enough for Santa Fe.

Literally we were in the middle of nowhere, heading to Santa Fe, NM, enjoying the scenery and serenity of the drive. With no prior warning our check engine light suddenly came on and the following message displayed…

Oh no you didn’t…Oh, yes we did! Yesterday, we took a day trip across the mountains to visit Roswell, NM. Roswell’s claim to fame is a supposed UFO crash in early July,1947.
