Walking in the park the other afternoon my mind was in a meditative state resulting in both photos and Haiku Poetry. I thought it was only fitting to keep those born of the same moment together.
About Walks in the Park during the Spring:
Blooms lay all about,
Contemplating and walking,
Senses are gifted.A path leads onward
Feet guided upon the way
My mind freely roams.Shadow and light play,
Enemies or friends both be,
The whole is greater... Meandering Passage, Earl Moore
Walking for me, is a way to relax and relieve stress and often a time of comtemplation. Perhaps it’s somewhat for me as it was for Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
“I can only meditate when I’m walking. When I stop, my mind ceases to think; my mind only works with my legs.” – Jean-Jacques Rousseau
A beautiful picture and wonderfully thought-provoking post. The suspense about what you are “cooking” over there has me on the edge of my seat.
Anita, thanks. Sometimes those experiments I cook up don’t turn out as appetizing as envisioned. ;-)
A brilliant meeting of two art forms Earl! The photography perfectly matching the words, and conveying the nature of your blog excellently. You really are multi-talented ;)
Martina, thank-you! Yes, photographing and thinking up 5-7-5 Haiku verse at nearly the same time…it’s a wonder I managed the walking part without falling down. Rather taxing for a mind usually limited to a single core processor — an exceptional afternoon. ;-)
Wonderful, Earl. Beautiful images and fitting poetry. After all, April is National Poetry Month. I like your observance.
Thanks, Ken. Once a year is about how often you’ll see me write poetry. :-)
Well, I’m glad you didn’t fall. I like this idea of putting our steps into a cadence with words, breathing, chanting, or whatever. We thus do find more peace and serenity within when we walk in nature.
I certainly find a renewed piece of mind on walks… especially if surrounded by nature. Thanks, Monte.
I’m impressed – photography AND poetry!
I feel the same about walking, or any type of onwards movement, actually. I wonder why that is?
I know…who would of thunk it…me, photography and poetry. ;-)
Thanks, JP!
A fine series from your contemplative walk. I like the scenes very much and fine them refreshing and with lots of appeal. Well done. The poetry is very expressive. Nice to combine both.
Don, thanks. I guess my mind was in the proper place for this…it was beautiful day, very inspiring.
