No matter what piece of technological equipment you buy you have to know going in that it’s going to be outdated probably within a year, tops. That doesn’t mean it’s still not a great piece of functional equipment, it’s just soon not going to be the latest and greatest.
The Canon S90 pocket camera is now last years model with the introduction of the S95 and Nikon’s 70-300mm VR lens got a little long in the tooth with the just announced Nikon 28-300 VR lens. I own the older version of both of these. So am I going to rush out and upgrade to the next greatest thing.
Nope, not on your life!
I don’t know of a single thing either one of these “improvements” would give me that I either want to do or can’t do now. But then, that wider zoom range would be nice… ;-)
Change of subject…
In the last 36 hrs I’ve emptied over 6 inches (15.2 cm) of water from our rain guage. It’s accumulated from local thunderstorms so some in the local area have gotten more and some less — and some none at all.
Here’s a secret I’ve learned this week. If it’s dry where you live and you’d like to have rain, start putting a new roof on your house. It’s worked like a charm here! :-)
However, progress has been made and the roof should be finished today, if the weather holds out.
The light was such in this photo that the wood shingles of this pagoda seem almost to shine through the surrounding vegetation. That’s the feature which caught my eye and what I tried to emphasis in post-processing.
I read the review and I still like the sounds of the S90 and as far as the Nikon 70-300 I still have a love/hate relationship with it.
Don, is your 70-300 the VR model or the 70-300 model prior to VR and what have you experienced? I’ve been pretty impressed with the 70-300 VR one.
