Since purchasing our current house four years ago my wife and I seem to be in the never ending cycle of home repair, updating and remodeling. I suspect this cycle may continue forever to one degree of the other.
Last evening while driving around ooking at home roof designs, colors and textures, yes, our roof is scheduled for replacement this summer, I spotted a sign for a park, I didn’t previously know existed. At that time I made a quick mental note — check it out, asap.
This morning I returned to the sign discovering a wonderful park/natural shooting location with paths, woods, structures and water. It’ll probably become a favorite local shooting spot and all this time it was only 10-15 minutes away — right under my nose.
I explored this new location for a couple of hours, swapping three lens for a combined shooting range of 14-300mm — enthusiasm took over.
This posted image is NOT from the park — I wish it was. ;-) I haven’t processed the park photos yet, maybe tomorrow.
What a nice surprise that was! Such things must be on a good map of your area, I suppose.
Looking forward to seeing your photos from the new area.
Eric, yeah, it was on the maps but my general experience with local city parks has been less than successful so I’d never taken the time to explore all the parks. For some reason on this day that sign looked inviting.
I know, I recently got off the highway on my commute to look at a place I knew was there but never took the time to visit. It does us good to find a new locale to spur the vision.
Yeah, Chris, it’s nice to know we don’t always have to travel half way around the world to find something to inspire us.
You had me fooled until your last line. Seeing the photo, I wondered how on earth you could have missed a place like Eden, only 10-15 minutes away from home? :-)
Ove, I wish I had that “Eden” scene only 10-15 minutes away…but it’s not so. :-)
Earl,
You tell us about this new place, and now you keep us waiting, LOL. This is a very nice photo.
Alan
Alan, yeah, I guess it was a bit of a “bait-and-switch” with that photo. :-)
Your post continues with the idea of pausing from yesterdays post. We do have this tendency to jump in our cars, put our blinders on and look straight ahead. To heck with pausing to see. I expect most of us can relate to your experience. But, now that we know about it we can explore. That’s the fun part!
Monte, I’m working hard on that pausing thing!
