Let this image have a cooling effect, as it’s forecast to be abnormally hot (by previous averages) here in North Carolina this week. We did get some rain this past weekend, enough to make June’s rainfall total near average. However, that’s not making a dent in the overall drought and rainfall deficit, especially with the high temperatures.

As a nation, we are approaching our 250th anniversary. It’s hard to believe that in just over 250 years, we have transformed from a nearly untouched natural environment to our current state of burning, flooding, pollution, and environmental stress. The scope of this change in such a relatively short period is almost unbelievable.
