As the temperature becomes hotter the morning dog walk time gets earlier. At a little after 6am this morning it was 73°F while at 8pm last evening it was 89°F, humidity 85%, for a heat index of 99°F — I know because I happen to be mowing the yard thinking it would be cooler, wrong assumption on my part.
I do like these early mornings but I most definitely need to adjust my nightly bed time as well.
In this photo that one patch of sky in the upper right may look blown-out, but according to the histogram it’s actually not.
I’ve traveled tree lined roads like this one most of my life. Thanks for a reminder how beautiful they can be!
Glad you enjoy this photo, Steve. I’ve got a couple more I’ll post in the next few days.
I too like the tree-lined road. You live in a beautiful area when I think of the lack of trees where I grew up. Nice one.
don, thanks! I sometimes take the local beauty for granted when I should be paying closer attention to it.
That’s an excellent interpretation of this indifferent pre-dawn morning light: precious hours, when the night is already gone but the day is just at the beginning of it’s awakening process.
The image works best for me in the lightbox, when the background of the website is darkened. Otherwise the tone of the image and the wordpress theme’s background color are too similar for my eye.
Markus, thanks and you never know what power a few words can hold. I’d not been entirely happy with the yellowish background of Meandering Passage for much the same reason you mentioned…it tended to interact with select images that shared similar tones.
So, with my own perceptions confirmed by your comment, I shifted from more yellowish tones to a bit more neutral beige for the site. A very slight change but one I can notice — I’m going to live with it a while and see if it suffers the same issues as the more yellow one. I had a white background for years and don’t particularly want to go back there yet.
I appreciate the comment.
Choosing background colors for a photoblog is definitely a different task. I went the “coward’s way” and left it white… To make the images stand out better, black would work best, but I don’t like black too much. So the images have to speak, as they have to do with your beige one. And the lightbox effect allows an unobtruded look anyway, so it’s probably more a question of personal preferences than a real issue.
Oh, it’s definitely about my personal preferences. I’d already “lightened” the yellow background twice and still could not make peace with it — perhaps this beige will have better luck. A black background is wonderful for photos but white text on a black background is harder on the eyes in my opinion — at least older eyes such as mine. Have good weekend, Markus.
