Shelter where you go
ByEarl“If you’re an introvert, you also know that the bias against quiet can cause deep psychic pain. As a child you might have overheard your parents apologize for your shyness. Or at school you might have been prodded to come “out of your shell”— that noxious expression which fails to appreciate that some animals naturally carry shelter everywhere they go, and some humans are just the same.” ~ Susan Cain, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking (via creatingaquietmind)

U.S. Holidays: Memorial Day 2018
ByEarl“Memorial Day isn’t just about honoring veterans, its honoring those who lost their lives. Veterans had the fortune of coming home. For us, that’s a reminder of when we come home we still have a responsibility to serve. It’s a continuation of service that honors our country and those who fell defending it.” ~ Pete Hegseth

A fine memorial shot. I visited a grave yard hoping for something of this nature, but it proved to be
ground level so that the decorations took on a strange surreal look. Passed on that and decided to
remember my brother from WWII. (A bit more sentimental than I usually like to be)
Don, thanks. I believe memorial day is a perfectly fine day to be sentimental and we all owe your brother our gratitude.
A really nice shot, great use of lines in the image. It keeps me roaming around inside the image. Images of cemeteries with simple gravestones has a sobering effect on me. That was so evident on my first trip to Arlington Cemetery. Words cannot describe those emotions.
Earl,
Great photo. Clean colors and depth of field. I am reminded that my Dad, a veteran, passed away a year ago tomorrow. I can;t believe a year has passed so quickly.
Nice photo!
