20 Year Anniversary of Meandering Passage

I hadn’t a clue when I started Meandering Passage that it would last 20 years and beyond. And, yes, there have been numerous times when I was ready to walk away from it. Perhaps the brightest thing I did was select the name “Meandering Passage” in 2006, because yes, it has been one. The title of my first post on January 26, 2006, was “And So It Begins.”

I haven’t been consistent in tracking visitor counts or views. During a period when I was writing Mac and Blogging-centric technical posts, I was getting hundreds of views a day. But, far, far from that these days.
Optimistically, I’ll see you all back here for the 40th anniversary, when I’m 92! 😂

Congratulations, Earl! 20 years of blogging is definitely showing perseverance, if not stubborness – and I know what I am talking about, as I will hit 20 years in November this year.
I can say that I’ve enjoyed a lot of your photography over many years (and also your writing), and I am sure I am not the only one out here. So I want to say thank you for the time you dedicated to the endeavour. Without your voice, there would be something missing.
Thank you, Markus. I appreciate your kind words. There comes a tipping point in blogging when it becomes so meaningful that you don’t want to let it fade away, much like a distant friend you want to keep in touch with. That sentiment has helped me through some low points when my posts were less frequent. The small community of visitors and commenters, including yourself, is very important to me.
I’ll revisit this in November, but an early congratulations to you on 20 years as well. I enjoy your comments and following your photos on your blog. I often check their geolocation via the convenient map link you provide. It gives me a sense of connection to those places.
Thanks again and take care!
Congratulations, my friend!!! Twenty years is a long time and in my opinion you have done it all very well. Your photography is great, your writing is great and it is evolving into what it is today. Twenty years ago I knew almost nothing about blogs but a friend mentioned that I may enjoy it. So I did some researched then decided I’d try it. You were one of the first bloggers I encountered and enjoyed. I have been a follower of yours every since. I have also had the pleasure to have met you and Bonnie which moved this virtual relationship into a more personal level. I call you my friend and believe that to be true. Thank you for bringing who you are to this blog and your impact on more people than you may realize. If we both are here in 20 years I believe we will still be following each other.
Thank you, Monte. There hasn’t been a master plan or specific goal for this blog; it’s been a journey shaped by luck, coincidence, and serendipity that has made Meandering Passage what it is after 20 years. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I write and share photos purely for my own enjoyment, more than ever before, and I’m finding joy in it again. So, perhaps there are still a few more years ahead—or even many more. But as I told Markus, it’s also the small community of visitors, commenters, and friends that makes it special. Take care.
P.S. We were quite lucky with Winter Storm Fern. We received only about two inches of mainly sleet, with just a little freezing rain. We didn’t lose power or experience any significant damage. Since the sun has been out, most of the ice is melting today; however, tonight’s temperature is expected to drop to around 10 degrees Fahrenheit.
Congrats!! I like what you’ve done with your lounge area, or is that from your RV? ;)
Thanks, Mark! Oh, you noticed. Yes, that’s the library/den where we interview all the high-profile guests we publish on Meandering Passage. The atmosphere seems to relax them so that they talk more freely. Except for the large number of staff at Meandering Passage, few people have access to this inner sanctuary. Ha!
Congrats! That’s quite a milestone Earl!
Thanks, Howard. No plan, just day-by-day. ;-)
