Autumn Thoughts

Autumn Thoughts
“That country where it is always turning late in the year. That country where the hills are fog and the rivers are mist; where noons go quickly, dusks and twilights linger, and midnights stay. That country, composed in the main of cellars, sub-cellars, coal-bins, closets, attics, and pantries, faced away from the sun. That country whose people are autumn people, thinking only autumn thoughts. Whose people passing at night on the empty walks sound like rain.”
― Ray Bradbury
Some photos seem to push me to do more than adjust sharpness, saturation and contrast. Some images make me want to find more than the camera captured — to find their soul, their voice. I’m never sure I’ve really done that, but I like to try, and in trying, perhaps find a bit of myself.
When pairing quotes with images and posts, I enjoy fully developed quotes that convey a clear message or offer an uplifting lesson. However, I am especially drawn to open-ended quotes, quirky humor quotes or even random literary passages. I love quotes that evoke emotions, set moods, or provoke questions—the essence of a good quote—but that also allow the viewer to contribute their own thoughts, punchlines, or stories. At the moment, I am particularly fascinated by themes that reveal underlying stories, not just in images but also in people and everyday life. Those stories may not always have a beginning, middle and end.
I might elaborate on this more later.

This is written from a contemplative and mystical view and I love it. The idea that an image wants you find their soul, their voice, speaks volumes about who you are. And the idea that you want a quote to match you image speaks loudly to me about the essence of who you are. You are not just a photographer but much more. And, please elaborate more.
Thanks, Monte! It is a time somewhat in flux, with thoughts running through my head, concepts that seem fluid. I guess this path, I think I see–we will see if it goes anywhere, and if so, where. Have a good weekend.
Agree. It’s one of my favorite things to do, pair quotes and photos
Sometimes it’s hard to define exactly why I pick a quote for a specific image… it just goes! Have a good weekend, Joe!
