Bitter Harvest

We find ourselves reaping the consequences of cascading greed and ignorance. I spend a few moments escaping the inner turmoil of anger, sorrow, shame and disgust by making pretty pictures, but it’s inadequate. When I was younger, I never dreamed we’d find ourselves as a country in this situation.

Worth a read
Thanks, Joe, that was a good read. I identify with Mr. Brooks’s experience in many ways. I used to be a member of “the party.” However, I left it 20+ years ago when I started noticing clear signs of prejudice, bigotry, and a radical unwillingness to consider any view but their own. Still, until recently, I wouldn’t have believed it could turn into what it has. However, the other party is not without blame. They have left a vacuum, with groups of people not feeling represented. I’m hoping and betting that Mr. Brooks is correct in that this current reign of terror is doomed. The only question is, what will survive?
I never did, either, Earl. I never thought this could happen again. Not after seeing those freezer trucks of dead bodies a short time ago.
Excellent photo, btw!
Perhaps it speaks well of us, Ken, that we were innocent enough to think there was a bottom to how low people/politicians would stoop. But I’ll not make that mistake again, especially regarding money and power. Thanks for the welcomed comment about the photo.
Wow! What a wonderful image. Please keep making pretty pictures! I also never dreamed the landscape of this country would look like this but I’m not sure that making pretty pictures is inadequate. Your image lifts my spirit!!!
Thanks, Monte. For some unknown reason, I passed over this photo when it was made. I’ll blame it on being busy with the RVing life.
Earl, I am feeling with you – and it is awful to watch so many possibilities for the development towards the better to founder…
Yes, Markus, progress in so many vital areas has been or soon will be set back for possibly decades. I can’t escape wanting to apologize to the rest of the world for our disastrous so-called leadership. This, indeed, defines a new low for actions and attitudes that could be considered the Ugly American. Thanks for your kind words. They are appreciated.
