Daylily (Ditch lily) We relocated this plant a couple of months ago, and it seems happy at its new location. Interestingly, Daylilies are part of the Herb family and are considered invasive in much of the United States.

Here are a few other interesting facts I discovered about Daylilies: They’ve been the subject of and praised by many famous Chinese poets; they are often used as a pollution detection plant (when the air is polluted by fluorine, the tips of their leaves will turn reddish-brown); and they are also cultivated as a food crop in some parts of the world. They’re also the Chinese emblem for Mother’s Day.

I don’t know how long these blooms will last. In the near future, there will be 90+ degree days here.

Oh my gosh this is beautiful! I hope it makes it too. It’s interesting how often I only look at the beauty of a flower or plant while not looking at the other things they bring. So many plants and flowers are eatable, medicinal are now pollution detectors. She is beautiful!
