Winter Snapshots

It’s after all only the end of January so my wishing for spring was much too soon.
I would like to wish my wife, Bonnie, a very Happy Birthday today!

“Your body adapts to what you eat. Your mind adapts to what you consume. Your soul adapts to what you love. What you feed yourself today is who you become tomorrow.” ~ James Clear ue to neglect, denial and greed climate change seems to be becoming a runaway train. Even in this so-called nation-of-plenty food sources…

That’s a true change. A powerful change. And I have found…

I discovered this appealing lighting display above the entryway of a recent hotel we stayed in. The bright blue of the sky through the windows and the warm yellow glow of the lighting shades complemented each other, while the straight edges/lines and rounded curves provided an interesting visual contrast.

A fine winter series. I like the dog’s checking things out. The wintery neighborhood shot looks so good – could be a fine post card. The night snow has its own special flavor. Nice post today.
Thanks, Don. I simply grabbed the camera this morning and took some quick shots, they’re snapshots more then anything else.
Fine winter scenes, there Earl. Here, as usual it seems, we got less snow than you did. Probably on the order of 2 – 4 inches. We got lots of sleet and the snow is quite crispy and crunchy. I’m sure that Maggie and Foster enjoyed it … from the looks of it, at least Maggie did! :-)
I just witness and unusual scene. Kids sliding down the hill on sleds! They must have moved from out of state and brought the sleds with them.
Paul, thanks. Our started out as snow and stayed that way until sometime early morning. It then turned into sleet . We’re a little north of Charlotte and those few miles seem to make a difference. Hope you have a great weekend.
Why don’t you see if those kids will let you borrow their sled! :-)
I think that I’ll skip the sled borrowing. I tend to like my vehicles, these days, with steering and brakes! It did look like fun, though!
My best birthday wishes for your wife, Earl!
For me it’s #2 – the scenery reminds me a bit of a Breughel painting.
Here we’ve got a nice amount of snow, too, and the kids went out into the garden to build a snowman. This kind of winter with fresh snow I like much better than those grey days when the roads are more dirty than anything else.
Thank-you, Markus, I will pass your wishes on to my wife.
I like the fresh snow to but not so much once it turns grey or brown. The fresh snow reminds me of when I was a kid.
In the first picture the dog inside…looks like he just wants to stay in! Enjoy the snow
Both Maggie and Foster are rescue dogs. Maggie is full of energy and always eager to run and explore (she’s got some Whippet or Greyhound in her) while Foster (Basset-hound & Golden Lab) is much more laid back, unless you’re talking about food. Foster is happy to let Maggie go first and while he waits to see the results.
First of all , Happy Birthday to Bonnie!
I really like the first image as Foster seems very hesitant to step outside, so your title seems fitting. It seems to me 5-6 inches is a lot of snow for your area. If I’m not mistaken, didn’t you just have snow recently, maybe even last year?
Did you make a snowman or have a snowball fight? Did Bonnie win the snowball fight?
Thanks, Monte. I think she had a quiet but nice birthday.
Yes, this has already been a cold and snowy winter compared to what we’ve experienced with recent winters.
No snowballs fights or snowmen. But we made a heck of a dent in a birthday cake while holding up at home. ;-)
Way to go Earl!!
Ha! I love the caption on the first image Earl. We have not much snow anymore, but it is certainly just as cold.
If Foster could talk that’s about what he would of been saying. He stood with his head poked out the doggie door for 3-4 minutes trying to make up his mind about stepping into that white stuff. But then he’s half Basset-hound so 6 inches of snow means his belly drags. :-)
