James River Sunset – The sun gently kisses the horizon as weather cold front clouds catch its fiery light.
On the second evening of our recent visit to Virginia I watched the above sunset from across the James River. Clouds from a passing cold front brought added excitement to the sky and orange sunlight diffusion near horizon.
I took this photo handheld using the Nikon D700 and Tamron 23-300mm Lens. In this situation the auto-focus on the Tamron gets a little squirrelly so I switched to manual focus. However, the Tamron VC (vibration compensation) was much appreciated.
It was cold and windy all the while I watched and took photos. Strange how I didn’t notice being cold until it was all over. :-)
