The more I use my Nikon D700 camera the more I like it. However, according to Mike Johnson, Sony has made impressive inroads into the D-SLR world.
I’ve already been partially paid back from my first loan at Kiva. It feels good. I got turned on to Kiva by friends. It’s a site/organization which allows individuals to make loans to people/entrepreneurs in developing countries so that they can improve their lives. Loans can be small amounts (at least in U.S. standards) and when paid back can be loaned to someone else.
I’ve been working/playing with the just released Public Beta DEVONthink 2. DEVONthink 2 is a personal information assistant database that handles all the pieces of information from your work, studies and life and provides unique capabilities to search, cross reference and analyze the data. It handles information in all types of file and document formats and is an amazing Mac tool for research and information mining. It even has built-in Artificial Intelligence (AI).
While I’m a big fan of Apple’s OS X I’m also on friendly terms with Linux (I have an active session of Fedora 10 running now) so I’m always interested in information about either. The PR you hear about Linux seems to keep slightly missing the mark in my opinion. For example in the listed “10 things Linux does better then OS X” you’d need to be an advanced Linux user to take advantage of many of those items and the majority of computer users today are anything but advanced users. So Linux, do you want market share or do you want to be the king of the technical niche? I think the popularity of Ubuntu Linux can be attributed at least in part to them simplifying it.
Want the ultimate playhouse for your backyard and you just happen to have an extra $42 million laying around?
From my own weird sense of humor… How come when I read the headline “Doctor: Face transplant patient very happy with procedure” I want to tack “and can’t stop smiling” onto the end of it? I mean do they really know she’s happy or maybe they just got a few sutures a little too tight. ;-)
Music: A beautiful rendition of “What A Wonderful World” by Katie Melua and the late Eva Cassidy.
