I had a pleasant surprise today when my Tamron 28-300 mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di VC (Vibration Compensation) Macro lens arrived back from warranty repair.
I’d purchased this lens as a general purpose zoom lens shortly after getting my Nikon D700. I now realize the lens hadn’t been right from the very first. There were some slight auto-focus issues and I don’t think the VC was working. At the point when the VC feature begin making grinding sounds I contacted Tamron Service and sent the lens for repair.
I’ll give Tamron Service good customer satisfaction marks. They were responsive and the repair time was only slightly longer then their original estimate (4 weeks instead of 3.) The lens has a six year warranty so my only cost was shipping the lens to them.
The AF on the lens is now smooth and the VC feature is silent and working. I’m looking forward to getting out and giving it a real workout…it’s like having a new lens. :-)
