This past Friday morning my roaming took me to some railroad tracks. After a few “normal shots” I thought a lower angle might be interesting.
As I laid there stretched out upon my stomach between the rails, my camera six inches above the ground, I thought if someone comes along they’d think me drunk, crazy or perhaps suicidal. Luckily no one came by so I didn’t have to explain myself.
All the way back to my car I chuckled thinking how I must have looked, laying there on those tracks. Now that would have been a photo! ;-)
Wow. Beautiful shot Earl. So many nice textures in the close foreground too. A sepia kind of toned treatment might look neat as well although I do like the iron and wood colours as they are right now.
I would just be paranoid about getting my belt buckle stuck in the ties and being trapped there. Just like you’d see in an old move (ugghh.. my shoe is stuck!.. aaahhh). :)
@Richard: Thanks! I agree there are a number of tone and hue treatments that would have worked well. I decided to keep the natural wood, stone and steel colors which seem to play well off the purple blue of the darker overhead cloud.
What was going through my head while laying there was…”Don’t let the last shot they find in your camera be a close-up of an approaching locomotive!” :-)
(But if they did find that photo I’d hope the focus was tight, the white balance was right on and the rule of thirds had been used in the composition! ;-) )
