Often getting a good photo is simply two parts prepared and one part lucky, as was the case when this white heron dropped into scene for a little early morning fishing.

He caught a number of fish and I got several photos. We both were happy!

Luck? Hmmm, let’s see: You got up before dawn. Drove to the river. Took your camera with you. Waited. Then a heron shows up. Me thinks that you were standing at the intersection of opportunity and preparedness. Some call it luck! ;-)

I would call it lucky if you just happen to be in the area, fell over a rock, your shutter clicked, the heron had just landed, and somehow everything was in focus!

Were you there…how did you know that’s exactly the way things happened. Not only did I get that picture when I fell but I didn’t get hurt or break my equipment…now that’s lucky! LOL ;-)
