Quail Creek State Park and its 600-acre reservoir lies only 4.5 miles from our current RV park location. After so much desert, it’s visually refreshing to enjoy the scenic beauty of water.

I sure do like these majestic views you have been sharing from out there Brooks. So fitting for panoramas I imagine, when everywhere you look there is a great scenic.
Thanks, Mark. It’s almost impossible to have a lens wide enough to capture many of the tremendous vistas and even when you do it doesn’t sufficiently translate the depth, vastness and astounding beauty of it all. But, I keep trying! :-)

It’s nice to see that you’re discovering some of southern Utah’s little “secrets”. Most people who arrive in St. George can’t wait to move on to Zion, Bryce, and maybe Cedar Breaks. They miss the smaller state parks. And some of them are really worthwhile. I’m sure you already know about it, but I’d highly recommend Snow Canyon (near St. George). It doesn’t have much in the way of water, but it has some beautiful rock formations. Be sure to ask the person at the gate where to find the little slot canyon in the park. It’s only a short walk and it has some of the most remarkable “swiss cheese” formations I’ve ever seen.
Paul, yes, while the larger parks are wonderful in their own right they also come with the price of popularity and crowds — we are not crowd people. :-) We’ve discovered, as you said, many of the smaller parks hold wonderful “secrets” and seldom have the associated crowds. So, we always search them out. Thanks for the tip on the slot canyon at Snow Canyon…we will check it out!
