“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under the trees on a summer’s day, listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the blue sky, is by no means waste of time.”
~John Lubbock, “Recreation,” The Use of Life, 1894
Bonnie was the same way but in the last year has gotten better at “quiet time.” I think retirement has been good for her in that it made her re-evaluate what’s truly important.
Totally agree.
Never, ever is a waste of time! :)
Rest is essential, and often is the best use of our time!
Thanks, Monte, Paul & Tom. May you all have plenty of time and great opportunities to “rest.” :-)
That’s a great quote
Yes, I thought so too, Andy. :-)
Thanks!
I keep trying to convince my wife of this. She goes stir crazy if sitting quietly for too long.

Beautiful photo and nice sentiment from Lubbock. I’m all for that kind of contemplation but my wife, well, not so much :)
