Stare-down
ByEarlMaggie has always loved to hunt and give chase…most dogs do but this has always been a focused passion with Maggie, probably due at least in part to the Walker Treeing Coon Hound in her family tree. On this morning’s walk, we happened upon a White-Tail Deer standing statue-still at the edge of a patch of woods. A flicker of the deer’s ears grabbed Maggie’s attention…

The same to you Earl.
Thanks, Steve!
I didn’t go out to see fireworks, but I would have liked to see a display such as this, kids in a field having a good time. The one advantage of all of this rain that we are having … very low risk for fire!
I’ll have to see if I can catch some of the Carowinds’ fireworks. They are doing them nightly for a whole week and I can actually see them from my street, but a short drive around the corner would bring much better viewing.
Your photo, here, reminded me of the many 4th of July fireworks that I participated in as kid, both in viewing, and in displaying. :)
Paul, thanks! Yeah, in general the simplicity of these smaller celebrations appeal to me more then dealing with huge crowds and associated parking issues.
My sister and brother-in-law hold a covered dish dinner for friends and neighbors on July 3rd each year at their place in Statesville and furnish pretty decent fireworks for when it gets dark. This photo was from one of those events.
