I’ve been reading the reactions to Apple’s special event yesterday, March 6th, 2008, where the iPhone Software Developers Kit (SDK) for third party developers was announced. Apple also made announcements that focused on enterprise customers with push email, Microsoft Exchange compatibility and security improvements/enhancements. This move is a direct shot across the bow of RIM’s BlackBerry.

The reaction has not been all positive. There are many restrictions on applications using the SDK. But I think everyone would agree that it’s a much better situation then the device being completely closed.

Games on the iPhone and iPod Touch will draw a lot of attention in the coming months.

You can read find some additional reactions to the announcements here, here and here.
