Earl, that contradictory feelings of lively but empty in #3 I find most interesting, with the side-/backlight working out the structures and the pedestrian just in the right place.
I like the back lit subjects. People avoid shooting into the sun, but that actually adds to a pictures dynamic quality in most cases.
Good stuff Earl. Back-lit subjects can be very powerful when done right. These are, especially the first one.
I really like the long shadows in the first two photos, Earl. They add a little more interest to the photos.
