Edward, Times Change

| | |
The clock shop smells of old wood and brass. A shaft of hallway light cuts through the crowded clocks, reflecting off their glass and polished cases. Edward pauses, remembering children pressing against the window, staring in sheer wonder.

He grumbles about Daylight Saving Time changes, but resets each clock with utmost care. The “TWICE-A-DAY” sign makes him chuckle—an old clockmaker’s joke about stopped clocks being right twice a day.

His arms are tired, yet he tends each timepiece patiently. The years are settling on his shoulders, but contentment keeps him going. Time and its steady rhythm comfort him; for a moment, his heartbeat seems to join the clocks’ timeless song.
