A Golden Flash To The Past

A flash from the far past:
Fifty years ago this month, I was enjoying my first fall in Vermont, and yes, back then I could easily fold into that little Honda Civic. I’m sure it wouldn’t be as easy these days! Wow, talk about feeling old now. 😂
I don’t remember what camera I had back then, and the photos’ metadata has no camera data. It was some inexpensive point-and-shoot.

Yep, I can see you folding into that car. And I must say quite handsome in that stance. I love it!
Haha… not so much handsome, but definitely thinner and in better shape, with a full head of hair.
I think we had the same barber :-)
Yelp, I went every three to four months, whether I needed a haircut or not. Aww, the seventies! LOL
I doubt if there was a thing like metadata back then (unless you took copious notes)!
Ken, at the time I wouldn’t have known or cared about metadata. Still, interestingly enough, the original creation date/time and the photo dimensions were recorded and are now part of the metadata. I certainly didn’t add that info manually, so I guess the camera had basic metadata-recording capabilities and saved it to some type of electronic media. I don’t remember it, and no camera data is saved.
Wow – that’s what makes photography so magic – it conserves such precious slices of time. Many of us in that age group will have remembrances of similar outfits, hair lengths and small cars… me, too.
I hope you have a print of that – I guess it survives much better than rotting bytes on spinning rust!
You’re right, it is a rite-of-passage type photo. It’s one of only a few I have of myself from that time, and I’m not sure which will outlast: the paper print or this arrangement of electronic bits.
It’s good to hear from you, Markus. I hope yours are well. Thanks!
