Memorial Day Weekend

Besides actually getting some decent rain, the big event this Memorial Day weekend is the local running of the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR’s longest race. Not personally being a huge NASCAR fan, I see the race as an occasion to avoid the associated crowds and traffic near the speedway. The sad and unexpected news released yesterday of the death of the renowned driver Kyle Busch at the age of 41 has slightly overshadowed the event. Condolences to his family and friends. Rain and this event seem to have a history, as it’s been delayed due to rain several times.
I understand there’s been a sharp increase in the price of racing fuels along the same trend as regular gasoline.
Have a safe and enjoyable holiday weekend, everyone!

I would imagine the fuel cost would affect the racing scene just as you and I. Sorry to hear about Kyle Busch.
There are many acres of race fan RVs that gather for the weekend. It’s beneficial for local businesses, but not so good for us old curmudgeonly locals. ;-)
