A Little Dry

I would have preferred that the water drops in the photo were from rain, but unfortunately, I’ve had to start watering my ferns. We are facing a severe drought, and officials are advising water-conservation efforts, so my watering will be limited. The weather forecast predicted a small chance of rain earlier today, but we received nothing, and it seems there won’t be any rain until possibly next weekend. At least the temperatures, which had been approaching ninety degrees, have dropped to a more normal seasonal high for a few days.

Meanwhile my sump pump has been running 200+ times a day and we have flooding nearby this week from all the rain. So crazy the variable conditions all over. Hope the drought doesn’t persist there. I’ve lost a few trees due to drought in past years and have spent a lot in trying to deep root water to save some.
I thought I might hear from you. 😉 Bonnie has been saying that the U.S. needs to build a high-capacity national water storage and distribution pipeline system so when areas receive boundiful amounts of rain, some of it can be stored and then shared with areas that are suffering a shortage. Just think if a portion of the current flooding could be stored and pumped to places like the Lake Mead reservoir for the southwest. We pump gas and oil because of their value. I think water may soon be just as costly. I don’t think the weather will be as “stable” as it was for the foreseeable future. Take care!
It seems the weather conditions are at extremes all over the world. Even though you had to water the plant for this photo it is beautiful!!
Sadly, it may be the new normal. The previous normal looks much more appealing at the moment.
