Down And Dirty

I’ve racked up more motorcycle miles on dirt than on pavement, and have eaten a lot of dust and dirt for the fun of doing it. For a period of time in my late teens and early twenties, it was normal to do weekend 60-mile rides, tearing through the woods and up mountainsides on rough powerline right-of-ways and singletracks with a group of friends in the Brushy Mountains of North Carolina. I also would participate in cross-country and local motocross races whenever I had the chance. I was never that competitively fast, but it was always fun and physically challenging.
If it were just me, I’d probably still have a dual-purpose motorcycle. But the highways are different from what they were, and I’m aware of the dangers and of Bonnie’s concerns, so I’ll read about them, watch a few motorcycle events on TV, and, perhaps, like this week, pay homage with a few images.

I like it when we get to know about one another and our life in the past. I don’t know that I knew that you rode and raced dirt bikes so I find it quite interesting. These images remind me of aliens. Another great job with creation.
It was great fun, terrific exercise and made for some pleasant memories. The events are in the past, but I tend to think we take the experience with us, no matter what age we reach. I do not doubt that most of us would have some surprising stories and narratives to share. Thanks, Monte!
