As Goes The Redbuds

The woods in our backyard stretch from east to west, and two slightly scraggly Eastern Redbud trees struggle for room and sun along their edge. These Redbuds are among the first I notice to bloom with bright color each spring. Every year, I watch them out the window while having coffee and am tempted to grab my camera to capture their beauty in the warm early-morning light. Although I can’t say I always follow up or give in to their temptation, I usually make an effort.
However, I don’t mean to overlook the Dogwood or Bradford Pear trees, both early bloomers with beautiful blossoms, and both are in bloom now, but neither can be seen from my coffee window.
We still have some cold nights ahead, but spring will not be contained for long.

Beautiful! I have seen a couple of trees with blossoms and one tree with leaves already popping. It seems weird to me to see them as we have not had a winter yet. We have only received about a total of 6 inches of snow in Fort Collins this year.
Strange world these days. I think we beat you on snowfall this winter with that single 10-inch snowfall we had. I expect there’s concern about the upcoming summer and fire seasons around your area.
Wow, so odd seeing redbuds bloom this early given they don’t get going maybe for another month or so here. They are quite noticeable in the woods up here as you see these splashes of pink. They also spread like crazy in our yard – every year I have to yank more than a few as they pop up in inconvenient places. :)
I fear that with spring here early this year, we will be in full summer by May. My spring allergies have kicked in about a month early as well. I’ve been seeing stories and media coverage about the recent heavy snowfall in the Upper Peninsula and northern Michigan. Did you guys get much or any snow?
Fortunately no. It’s been cold though – which normally I’ve had enough by this time of year. but this week our refrigerator stopped working properly- so it’s been helpful to have the outdoors be a cold enough surrogate. :)
