Sliding Into Winter

About the image. This Gerbera Daisy, located on the hot southern side of our house, produced deep redish-orange daisies throughout the spring, summer and early fall of a weather-wise challenging year. As a matter of fact, I believe there were still daisies present at the first hard frost. It definitely slid into winter broadsided and undaunted, and it seemed only fitting to seek visual appeal even as it entered its winter dormancy, with this stylized, impressionistic image of the dying foliage.
We fall in the area where they are forecasting a winter storm warning over the coming weekend. Yesterday, they forecast mostly snow, but the storm path has shifted slightly north, so now it seems we may have a mostly ice event with sleet and freezing rain. However, being several days out, it all could change. Best wishes for everyone’s safety.

I have a feeling a lot of people will be *sliding* in the coming days, hopefully nothing severe. Going to plunge pretty cold here. We have a pretty good covering of snow now, but more on the way is forecasted for Sunday. I wouldn’t want to be those daisies outside. Neat image nonetheless.
I hope they are wrong about the amount of freezing rain we’re supposed to receive. If not, there will be many power outages here. At least we have a natural gas fireplace, logs, and a gas stove that should still work. The daisies are wilted pulp now, thanks about the image. Take care.
I enjoy the ‘beauty of decay’. As for the storm, we are going to be right in the heart of it in Pittsburgh. Not looking forward to this. Stay warm!
We’re not looking forward to the storm either. We’re forecasted to get mainly sleet and freezing rain, along with some wind, so there will be trees and limbs down and power outages. Luckily, we have gas logs and a gas stove, so there will be at least minimal heat and warm food if we’re among the unlucky. You take care and stay warm, too.
Feeling that ‘slight shifting north’ today! Big storm coming and it’s in single digits for a week.
That’s an interesting abstract if presented without any information.
The image, abstract or otherwise, always comes first, and I may tend to explain too much when I post. Yes, it sounds like it will be a rough week for you and the others who are directly in Fern’s path. After living in Vermont many years ago, I always kinda keep an eye on the weather up that way. Stay safe and warm, and I’ll be thinking of you.
I do like how you processed this image. And I suspect you had fun with it. Yes, slipping and sliding over most of the eastern part of our country. Be safe and stay warm.
It was fun, and often they tend to take a direction I wasn’t entirely planning on, but I’ve learned to just have fun and go with it. Thanks!
